When You're Gone

When you're gone, I stare into the sun for hours, hoping I go blind enough to never have to watch you leave again.

When you're gone, I pace madly back and forth, deciding whether to succeed in spite of you, or for you.

When you're gone, I still feel this burning passion to run to you, pick you up, and kiss you into the next lifetime.

But sometimes, when you're gone, I feel like I am headed to the afterlife alone-

Naked, cold, and screaming out your name.

September

Am I
Supposed to be
Stronger than this?

Smoke replaced you
In my lungs,
Whiskey in my blood-
I hang my head
In failed attempts
To cry myself to death.

So please, don't
Look at me now
With a lover's gaze
As you know
You were more than
A kiss goodnight-

More than a summer
Solstice.
